Gurukul strives in enabling its members - students, faculty, non-teaching staff and their families - to grow together and live as a community. Gurukul believes that ministerial formation is developed more outside than in the classroom - in the daily morning worship services, Sunday evening community worship services, hostel, dining hall, play ground, library and social activities. Some of the salient features of Gurukul's community life are worship, student life and fellowship programs.

Worship

The spiritual life is moulded and strengthened by the daily morning worships, mid-day intercessory prayers and Sunday evening community worship services. The opportunity and possibility of using various liturgies of different confessional traditions enrich the corporate worship life of the community. The retreats, once a term, are occasions of inspiration and committed search for concrete and authentic Christian life for the students and staff members. Daily work begins with a private mediation followed by a corporate worship for the whole community. Mid-week worship service is conducted on every Wednesday. Weekly evening worship is held in the college chapel on every Sunday. The faculty members and at times guest preachers will be invited to conduct the service assisted by the postgraduate students. Sermon Evaluations on Monday morning worship is devoted to final year B.D. students. The final year B.D. students will have the opportunity to demonstrate to the community their ability, maturity and spiritual growth in conducting a worship service. Students are encouraged to create new and innovative orders of worship and demonstrate their skills and talents in conducting worship and of preaching, bringing into it the actual life issues with theological reflection. Sermon evaluation is done the following day.
