On 8th December around 2.30 p.m., the UELCI with Gurukul Lutheran Theological College jointly organized the Ecumenical Carol Singing 2018, sponsored by UELCI, which focused on the theme “Towards an Inclusive Spirituality.” The committee members of this event invited the various denominational Churches and Christian institutions in Chennai for the Carols. Approximately 400 people were in attendance and about 14 carol teams participated in the Ecumenical Carol Singing 2018. In the beginning, the convener of the event welcomed and explained the importance of the theme to the participants. The Carol teams sang the Christmas songs in English and in vernacular languages.

UELCI- Executive Secretary & LWF National Committee (I), Rev. Dr. A.G. Augustine Jeyakumar was a chief guest of the event which became a great encouragement for all the participants. The preacher for the event was Rev. Dr. Stanley Jose, Christ Lutheran Church – President & UELCI-Treasurer. Rev. Dr. Songram Basumatary, Acting-Principal, Gurukul Lutheran Theological College, opened the event with prayer as well as concluded the event with a benediction. The UELCI endowed the event with good hospitality and a memento for the participants. The event came to an end at around 6.30 p.m. by singing a closing hymn “Silent Night” in a lighted candle in hand.
